Week 49

I AM SO EXCITED FOR MOTHERS DAY!  I wasn't even aware that it was so close! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Voy a llorar otra vez! So life really keeps going if I'm not home huh? I am so proud of Alex and actually doing hw haha. Also that photos of the Mormon Prom are sooooooo pretty! And everyone is so grown up! And bella! Hey Maddy Hatch stop being the prettiest person I've ever seen! Send me the Napoleon Dynamite video you guys made! Adams letter just made me feel for him! That's what its like to be a hard working missionary! awww probrecito! Anyway- fact about Peru..no one actually knows how to spell..even the smart ones...the elders and hermanas here in peru. Because in spanish the v and the b sound the same so people will try to spell Subimos but will put suvimos and i will laugh at them forever because I know better spanish then them! But I have no room to talk because I can't spell in English to save my life.ANYWAY

The new compie is great. I had to get used to her new way of...talking..really strongly and what she really  needs is more love for the people here. She only talks about her old area and how she loved them so much and then burns Nasca and I'm like hey you gotta love them if you want them to love you! Then she's is like ok! and then she is also really funny! She talks in English and it's so hilarious and I really like her. She is a hard worker and sometimes not ahaha. Everyone has their challenges and as companions we learn what they are here for and we help them with that thing and then we all grow together. I try not to find what I need to help her change but look for her strengths and help her develop those because she is really great.

Bryan miiiiiight get baptized this week......its just that we did the pre interview and he still has some doubts so i dont want to rush anything. So it might be next week. everything is dont in the time of the Lord. Its just that the elders looooove putting pressure and being all about numbers but its ok. He is really great its just that he is 24 and is  a man of the world! So we have been trying to help him change...the word of wisdom and the law of chastisty are his biggest problems. But he really is trying! He is pretty amazing. He comes to church and leaves with the elders to teach too! We had 5 invests in church this week and they all stayed the 3 hours and vVista Alegre my area is really starting to grow.

But right now I am about to go to Lima for another meeting for the leaders....guess when they told me...like 10 mins ago so yeah looooooooooo maximo jhahha. But it's cool. I just am super nervous like always and I get to go travel in a hot bus for 9 hours. My new comp is going to have to stay here and work in our area and she has only been here 4 days and knows nothing hahah Anyway I love you guys and love my baby sister and I can't wait to talk to you guys on skype!

Ps how do I not get split ends,,heather? Is there something i can buy to keep my hair  more healthy...not that I'm straightening it or anything just that it's dry here. THANKS

Week 48

No Volcanos here ya crazies. Calm it down  haha. I am extremely jealous to see all the fun photos San Diego and I can't wait to go next year! I miss swimming!

So to be honest I'm a little sad right now... just a little bit because my 3 best friends left me this transfer. Hermana Maldonado, Elder Smith and Elder Burgos. It's just a depression all have to get over in about 2 seconds so don't worry haha. But really it's ok bacause I'm a  missionary! I have a New companion Hermana Villena! She is from Equador and I don't really know too much about her yet so I'll update you how it's going next week. She seems really BOLD and ....yeah....so we will see how it goes! Good things are to come and there is alot to learn. I can already tell that obedience is going to be hard for her so thats going to be a challenge.

BRYAN finally accepted a baptism date! I am sooooooooooo happy! So we will be having it the 3rd of May. He is so great. here is a pic of us! And our lider missional!

Also we always contact EVERYONE!!!!!

These are my new sweet glasses im in love with! And my favorite snack in the world

what else......................................... basically I'll just let ya know how the transfer goes..I'm a little scared but no not really BECAUSE I DO NOT FEAR WHAT MEN CAN DO! I FEAR ONLY GOD AND TRUST HIM. THAT HE CAN GET ME THROUGH WHATEVER COMES AND THAT I WILL LEARN ALOT BECUASE IT IS TIME! Today is my 11 meses BTW!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Week 47

I got my package today! LO MAXIMO! It's really the best. I looooooove new clothes haha. And my glasses... I'll have to get used to them....but I think I like them...yeah I like em. I look like a hipster. The only in Peru. #Unica

So this week has been all calm no bad news haha. But the riot will start up again the 19th! But evryone always says that so I don't believe anyone.

These are the famous Aquaducts there are 16 and they where built in the times of the INCAs sooooo long ago and they still have water. it was so sweet. I love it when I can take aloooooooooooooot of photos.

Pres Douglas came to Nasca this weekend and lets just say through  a couple of experiences I've grown alot these last 2 days. ( having to do practices in front of everyone and being so nervous then having pres douglas calm me down and get me over my public speaking fear.) We had another interview. The best 5 mins every 3 months. It is indescribable the revelation I receive everytime. So we talked about weaknesses and how if I didn't  have this public speaking one I would have had another like a sickness or a temper. And God gave this to me and I have to get over it and it all depends on my faith. I can't write all what I learned or what scriptures he shared but I can just express to you how blessed i am to have the guidance of the holyghost in my life to guide me through everything i need help with. We also talked  about how I can be a better leader and it came down to just trusting in myslef and the things I know. He said ¨You are trained, you are studied in the scriptures, you have the talent to teach, you are wise, now you need to just have confidence in these things you have and trust that you can help these other people.¨So thats what im going to do. no doubt. CONFIDENCE IN CHRIST.

I love you guys and my companion  is awesome. She is very funny and she is always protecting me haha even when I don't  need it,. Also i am going to make her talk more. leave it all in silence until she talks hahah She is such a good missionary and I can't wait till she can train!

Thanks for all you do! You are the best family inthe world!!!!!!!!

Week 46

Earthquake? What Earthquake, I'm pretty sure there was one in Chile but not here. We felt it, but just a little temblor. Chicitito. Don't worry the Riot is also over. They say they are going to start again on the 12th. I went to Lima and came back fine at 4 in the morning and woke up at 6:30. Lets just say my exercises0 that day consisted of laying on the ground moving my arms haha.

CONFERENCE! It always fills my soul with this Peace and Spirit that is special to conference.  I tried to look for you guys but didn't see anyone sadly! (Cameron - what happened I thought you were going to run up on stage and hug the prophet ?haha) We had 4 investigators actually come to the conference and WOW ¨You can put your money on the prophet!¨haha

The best though is BRYAN. This kid is the best! He is 24 and he has been searching and investigating, but everytime we invite him to baptism, he says No. That he is not ready. Well he is ready now! We taught him the Word of Wisdom which is important. Also the Law of Chastity because I think, if someone is searching for an answer through the Holy Ghost and they aren't living these commandments, they aren't clean, then the Holy Ghost is not going to talk to somone who is not clean. So yeah we had an intense lesson on Alcohol and everything and he was like...Well great I was invited to go drink tonight but not -?I'm just going to be bored all night haha. I was like GOOD! Anyway he came to this farwell of another elder and HE BORE HIS TESTIMONY! Then he came to choir practice with the YSA and he left to go teaching with the elders some  lessons! Whaaaaaa! In the last 2 days he has progressed so much! He is sooooooooooooooooo going to accept the baptism invitation tomorrow! He is the best! I love finding and teaching people like him and seeing the process of real conversion!

Life is good. It's just a continual proccess of being humbled and having to change things and trying again and again and again. Especially with the local leadership here. They are just so new. We are never satisfied here. It's a pretty crazy life and it's hard. It is. Just because there is no rest. But it's so fullfilling and I am lucky to be here. I hope I don't make it sound bad because  I think it's better then you think. It's so great here. Especially the food! And the missionaries and all the members! Also the best part is the NEVER ENDING PERSONAL  REVELATION, COMFORT, AND GROWTH!  I am always learning and coming closer to the scriptures and the Savior. MI ALMA ES LLENA Y NO PUEDE EXPRESSARME COMO QUIERO! TAMBIEN ESTOY AGREDICIDO QUE SE ESPANOL Y DIOS ME HA BENDICIDO CON UNA FAMILIA  TAAAAAAAN BUENASASASO!. NUNCA VOY A OLVIDAR ESTAS COSAS.

Week 45

I got letters in the mail fom MOM, ALEX, and Quinn! Thanks! Also Aylse! Thanks guuuuuuys youre the bessssssst. I travel to Lima and then to Ica these next weeks so....greeeeeat. It really hinders the work ya know? But what can ya do when youre called hahahah

So awesome ..welll maybe not awesome story for this week. There is this member who is a recent convert and she is a little rooted in her old ways still. Any way she was with us and the missionary married couple the Fowlers and we were having a great spiritual lesson about the Book of Mormon with another lady that is WAY Catholic but we were making progress with the spirit. But then The new covert starts to talk and the first things she says is ¨the Catholic church killed Jesus¨.......crap haha. Our lady was so offended. Then the convert even continued to talk about how the Book of Mormon is better then the Bible. It was SO bad. We were all just looking around at each other like oh no what do we do haha. Luckly Elder Fowler straightened things up and then with tears and a great testimony from Sister Fowler -the lady agreed to read the Book of Mormon.  But oh was it rough.....she is not coming with us again to our new investigaters haha.

So update on the Strike - Monday was the worst and after that we couldn't leave our apartment for a couple days for our protection, but now it's better. It was so crazy we left to use the internet and there were people burning tires and throwing rocks and there was no way for the cars to get by. So we walked and it was so scary like walking in a war zone! The elders we all protecting us from the miners. Also there were police outside our house almost everyday. About 300 of them waiting to see if they needed to beat up some miners and kill some more people! So fun! I was secretly loving it and don't worry - I repented.

I love all of your videos thanks. It's great to see how great you guys are! I love my family so much and I love my life! We have the goal this week to have 6 people with a baptism date! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keeping the work going!

Week 44

So go look up the news about Peru and see what's going on here. A national Riot! El Paro Nacional de Peru! So I'm in Nasca and it's all about the mining business here. The government wants to take away the mines or somthing I don't  understand and all the miners are rebelling! So it's calmed down these last couple days. But they keep saying we can 't leave to work...then later they are like yeah it's fine. BUT today it has been worse. The miners have come from Lima, like 20,000 of them and they have blocked the roads and no cars can pass. They are burning tires and throwing rocks and stuff. We gotta go to Nasca central today so the elders and us are going to try and walk because no cars can pass. I'll keep you updated! #soexciting #dontworry

Anyway we had 2 investigators that were going to get baptized, then their dad said NO! So sad really. But now we had 5 new investigators come to church yesterday and I see some good potential! LOVING IT!

VIVE EL PARO!!!  The Riot Lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will try to get better photos today hehehe

Good luck grams and gramps! I wish I had you guys coming here!

I love you all and I love the Lord! Look at this sweet quote I found!

¨My mission pertenece al senor. Ballard

¨My mission pertains to the Lord. With all my heart I will give my energy and my time to the Master, becuase I love Him. Wherefore I will look at everyday not as if it is mine, but His. I will treat every min. of his time withthe respect and the focus and the dedication it merits.¨

Week 43

So scary news first and then spiritual stuff! So there are more bombs and extortion. My new convert had his door blown out 2 days ago and now he can't leave at night time, so we can't teach him as much. Also we have had ANOTHER temblor! ( mini earthquake) Its not really big news now except that there has been 4 and they have been almost evrey night. We are scared! But we are also prepared! 3 backpacks at the door ready to go! Don't worry. I have faith nothing bad will happen to me.

Can Heather please come down here for a sec because I am in a serious need of a hair cut - sooooooo bad. Seriously it's bad but I don't trust the sketchy Peruvian haircutters that do it for 5 soles ( which is like 2 dollars jaja)

I am so excited for Adam ( Adam is done at the MTC and left for Mexico this morning)...welcome to culture shock time!

And Gramp and Gram( they leave on their mission next week). HEY! Lilon and JimBoy THANK YOU  so much for the calendar with the birthdays that is THE best. You guys are the best.

This is a sweet foto of what I eat for dinner. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

We have this new investigator named Bryan. He is 24 and I love teaching him and people like him. He is the type of person that asks questions and is really in it to win it. He doesn't believe everything yet but he is going through the process in the right way. He is completing his commitments and he is going to serve a mission I know it! Well I hope it. Our lessons are so long with him and afterwards we are all pumped and I talk with my comp about how it went and what we did good and what we can do better. It's a fun proccess- the conversion proccess. I have seen it done many times but there are certain times it is done RIGHT. Yesterday in church we had ALL of our recent converts there! Active baby! All the Young men program are my converts ( or the convers of the Lord hahah) But Axel my first baptism here passed the sacrament and I just could stop smiling! AH!  We have 2 more baptisms this next week ;)

This is our zone..we went to the beach again. It was great times....yep! I love my life!
