Week 56

Can everyone stop counting down for me hahah! Freaks me out! Wow Alex you better live it up! It goes by too fast. The times when I went to parties at Haleys house ect...was so great #noworries. Sooooo I am not too heart broken over OZ man so don't worry. I like Abby better already and I haven't ever met her.

Hermana Jamenson is from my MTC group and I looove everyone from my first mtc district so we are having a ball here! THERE IS A SISTERS CONFERENCE THIS WED. SO WE GET TO SEE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone is so excited! Just not looking forward to the 12 hours curvey bus trip uhhhh.

So my compie is slowley opening her crazy bag and dumping it on my one problem at a time. Def the hardest comp I've had in the mission. But I'm working with pres to help her.

So this last weekend or mainly just saturday has been mission and life changing! First training with President Douglas#learningsomuch! #tithing #dayofrest. The less active rate in Latin America is that 20% are active...ouch. We have alot of work to do. I also did a practice and participated alot without feeling like dying, so that was a big blessing from God. Then we had interviews with the President and we mainly just talked about my investigators and my companion and my area. It's interesting to see how every time we have an interview I can really see how much I have grown because now I am less focused on me and my problems but more about my area. It's sad because now I feel like I've been becoming the best missionary that I have been in my mission and the time feels like its running out!!!!! THEN later that night pres calls and he is like hey I'm gonna come work with you guys tonight! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH can you say pressure! We went out and contacted people and  I learned so mcuh. He.is.amazing.! And then we taught some lessons and I was so nervous but later he said that out of all the missionaries he goes out with this was one of the most memorable lessons he has been in. He said he felt the sprit really strongly and that we were great missionaries.! eeeeeeeeeeeek! After he left i just wanted to sleep I was so done hahah.

Yesterday I didn't bible bash with somone but he definitely attacked us and I just testified and taught and listened and tried my best to keep the patience. I think I did alright till the last part of the 2 hours....I kinda burned him a little and I hope maybe his son can pray and find out what is right!

This week was still hard. No one has accepted a baptism date! whyyyy?????????? It's ok we are workin hard and I feel good!

We had pancakes for the sacrement!

I love you guys and I love all the pics and all the videos!

Oh and my new Latin aunt down here looks kinda like Karen and the way she talks and expresses herself is like her. Cool. Kare Bear you're so cool!

Love you all

Week 55

Awwwwwwwww Abby is soo cute! I miss the Bearry swimming times so much! The weather here is pretty good right now. Not too hot, not too cold. We are about to go to this cool Ayacuchano monument, so I don't have alot of time to write but I will send the pics of it next monday.  Noah is going to Taiwan! Whaaaaa! That's so cool! That means all the Quist boys will be speaking different  languages. And congrats to Jayne! I can't believe everyone is leaving! The world is changin!

I found the Latina version of Karen Quist. She is called Zonia! My new latina aunt!

This week God has been trying us. I am not disanimated because we did all our part. The thing is I don't know what we are doing wrong. We are asking references and we are inviting everyone to be baptized and we are contacting alllll the families in the world. But nothing... God wants us to learn somthing and we really are going to humble oursleves before Him and do His will and accept His will in everything. This next week we are going to reap the fruits of our work- I know it! We found 11 new invests this week but that's the easy part! The thing is we don't want normal invests we are looking for familias!!!!!!!! The mission has a big focus on that right now! FAMILIES!

My favorite thing we hear at people's door is  ¨my moms says shes not home¨........ the best.

I threw up alllll morning thursday that was a good welcome to Ayacucho.

Hermana Jameson and I are the new Sister leaders here and we came to change somethings haha. I hope the zone doesn't hate us. Just that we had a little capacitacion on how to make goals.  I have really learned alot here. Especially being Sister Leader.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you so much dad and I hope that you have a great day! I love you and am so thankful  that you send me the best videos every week. Thanks- I miss you tons. ( I don't really know when Fathers day is- I think it is next Sunday, so I am writing it now- but if it's not.. this is embarassing)

My area is pure HILLS! Straight up! And my comp literally runs up em. I am not really ACCUSTOMED TO THE ALTITUDE yet, so it's hard to breath sometimes and I feel weak. I will get better.

Ok there is no more time and so much to tell. I will see you all next week! I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 54

It is impossible to write everyone so I am sorry if I can't! Why do so many people love me? joke....CRAZINESS THIS WEEK! Transfers! soooooooo dun dun du dun I'm in............AYACUCHO!  I am so happy because I wanted to come here! Go look it up it's such a different part of Peru then the parts I have been in. It's in the mountains and it kinda reminds me of Park City or Tahoe...just alot poorer and dirtier but soooooooooooooooo prettty!

So I left Nasca and I had to travel so far that I couldn't say goodbye to anyone!;( So bummed.  I just wrote 1000 letters on the 24 hour bus trip....oh did you not hear me right- yes I said 24---hours... in a bus....everyone was just dying and throwing up the whole time! I didn't, but the bad news is I have to travel to LIMA still twice every change, so I will want to kill myself. BUT whatever...so I am still a sister leader! YAy...I guess haha. Brayn and some member came to our house in the morning to say goodbye... sad sad sad because I have been in NASCA for almost 6 months and it's just mine...my home. But asi es la mision!

My compie se llama Hermana Alvarez She is from Mexico and she is a fireball! I knew her in Chorillos and D rose and I called her little Mexico, so now I can't believe Little Mexico is my compie! She loves me so that's cool and I think this will be a great change!

Soooooo I am going to write some other peeps I love you allllllllllllllllllllllll!

Happy Day
Agusto my favorite abuelo in Peru! I seriously love this guy

Week 53

There is this little Peruvian girl who is crazy and whenever we come to teach her parents, she tries to attack us. Seriously she scares me! Her parents are pretty sure she is like that ¨because we haven't  baptized her yet ¨hahah! She is 4. :)

The theme of all my problems here as always, start with the fact that no one ever gets married here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bryan is so awesome and he is soooooo involved now! He even came to our Ward Council!? whaaa? haha. #onlyinperu

No guns or anything this week just the usual drunk men, but on the 28th they said that there is going to be another strike, so we will see what happens. I doubt it. But if it does happen, its gunna happen when I'm in Lima then.  So I won't be able to return to Nasca....so we will see what goes down. #peruissounpredictable

We are contacting machines. Families FAMILIES FAMILIAS! The only thing is...like ADAM! NO ONE GOES TO CHURCH! Well of our investigators like 3 went but not the 9 we had with a baptism date.  But there was an attendance of 100 people is our branch this week! RECORD!!!!!!!!!!! We were all freaking out! Go VISTA ALEGRE!

We have this family preparing to be baptized and the mom recently found out she has cancer! Noooo! It's so sad and I love them so much! But Who knows...well God knows..but maybe to try to find the good in everything maybe it can help them draw closer to God.

Who wants to listen to the best Christain spanish music that exists? Well for those of you who do.. Go look up Tu Estas Aqui and Da Me Tus Ojos by Jesus Adrian Romero!

Best thing this week is when Bryan during our lesson on the Preisthood told us how he had tried to give his sick cat a blessing of health.!!!!!!!!!!!!  jajaj first of all he doesn't even have the priesthood to give blessings and second of all NO just no hahah! He is a good kid!

BTW I go to Lima again! Feels like every week!!! I love it! Maybe.... I love you guys and there aren't fotos because I LOST MY CAMERA!  I'll buy one today.

Oh and grams will like this Sorry.  I got my whole zone saying CRAP! hahah Anytime anything happens everyone is like...crap! haha

Week 52

WEEK OF MIRACLES!  I have never contacted so many people ever! My agenda has never been so full! We do not have room in our agenda to write down more people! Now the challange is contacting all of them and following up! It's gunna be hard but I know that a selected few of them are the chosen ones waiting to accept the gospel. We have had high goals and my faith has really grown in this week!

But the best thing that happend is.... BRYAN WAS BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!  He is completely changed. A different man then the one we started teaching months ago. His baptism was an amazing experience. He literally looked like an elder and every time I look at him I just see a missionary. His testimony afterwards was so amazing and his conversion is real. His conversion is probably the favorite I have seen in all my mission and investigators. He was confirmed and he just fit in! It's amazing to see and I almost stared crying during his ordinance. I have almost never been so happy! Ever! This is the complete happiness that everyone wants and strives for!

I have to go to Lima again and I want to die haha. 2 times every 6 weeks! 16 hours in bus! Also I still have to get over all my fears of speaking to groups and it's hard! But hey, God knows what he is doing!
I looooooooooooooooooooove you guys!

Week 51

Shelby meeting her sister for the first time
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo It was so great talking to you guys and I think I need to repent about telling you guys about the shooting because it freaked mom out too much. I'm so sorry! But look how great the spirit protected us! Yesterday after skyping the crazy naked lady that lives in Nasca started throwing rocks at us! Just to freak you guys out some more!
Seeing my baby sister made her seem more real! But still it's hard to believe that she is real! She is soooooooo cute! Just like me when I was a baby no? hahah And getting to talk to Adam in Spanish was so fun! I was so suprised how well he speaks in Spanish! It was great! He is already such a missionary. He also looks so old! All in all it was amazing, but I feel bad if I wasn't happy dandy enough, but it was just a hard day. Alex don't worry bud you are my favorite brother in the USA haha.  I love you so much and I know you love me because you always send me your sweet drawings. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! Everyone who reads this ( if people even read it) do you all agree that Wendy is the best mom ever!? Es Verdad.

This week we were blessed to hear from a 70, Elder Grow. He instructed us about goals. We were doing it all wrong hah. I can't share all he taught us, but just so you know, our goal of baptisms is 9. NINE! What the heck are we thinking! Well I will tell you! We were inspired by the spirit and our faith! We always ask our investigators to pray and receive personal revelation ¨Will you read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if its true?¨ Now we have to apply that to ourselves, ¨Will you Hermana Quist pray to know how many people God has prepared for you to baptize in the month of June. Now we have to go wooooooooooork so hard. And the only way to do this is through FAMILIES! We have a new rule that if we can't pass by a couple in the street without talking to them! So we are talking to familias! It's how we can establish the church here in Peru more.

Funny story. The other day I went to a deli and one of the workers turned to the other worker and said "Charge her double.  She is American". Then u said in Spanish "Excuse me, I can understand you". You gotta watch out for the Peruvians. Haha.

So basically that's all I got for this week.  I love my family and I love my Savior. My faith is really being tried in these last months and I have learned or better said I am in the middle of learning alot about the way God works and how the power of his atonement applies to me. It's hard. It's worth it all.

Chau Hermana Quist

Ps. I lost my camera and I want to cry. BUT most of my photos are saved because I have them on a usb.

Ps. Can you send out my family history info so I can fill out that -MY family pamphlet because we have to and photos of the peeps like my grandparents...Shannon? Can ya help me on this- thanks babe.

Week 50

Our new house! Keys and everything! hahah jk

I really don't know what to say this week...gunna be short because don't have time, but good news I'll talk to you SUNDAY!  I can't believe it's here! I loved the reaction of you mom to hear my voice! And my zone liked my impression of you haha haha. My zone is so great and sometimes I get to be the comedian. I love the mission so much I can't say it enough! There is no words to describe the things I feel here and the experiences I'm having! I wish I could but it's just not gunna happen. Just wait for the journal when I get home. I dont know how other elders have time to write!

So yes we went to Lima AGAIN! I learned about the Doctrine of Christ again! It's a constant thing. The Doctrine needs to be a part of us so that we can teach it with power and authority. Nephi and Lehi in Helaman 5 are my heros. Read Hel 5 and apply it to the work! I taught a lesson on Jesus Christ. Just one completely dedicated to Him and I learned as I was talking! It was amazing. I also discovered a new better real way to explain to people about the Holy Ghost. It's simply feeling like God is saying Te amo. It's alot deeper than that, but that was one of my revelations this week

The Book of Mormon protects us from Dangers both Physical and Spiritual. Meaning smacking a dog with BOM really works. We decided this week was the cursed week of dogs. There were ALOT of close calls this week. ¨QUE PASA PERU!!!!!!!?¨

Anyway I love you all and I will SEE YOU SUNDAY!  yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!  I want to see Abby!!

This is me talking to you guys today! Crying! I love you all! ( she surprised us with a 2 minute pre call to set up our skype call on Sunday) It made my day I've been waiting all day to freak you guys out!

My new compie! Hermana Villena and we are cooking Causa Rellena
Mom look it up and cook it. It is sooooooooooo good!
