Week 60

HANNAH IS GOING ON A MISSION! I'm so happy I almost peed my pants! Someone give me her email! Cameron...you're stupid. Alex I feel that Grandma Dorothy is really involved in all of our lives and I really felt the spirit just reading about your experience at EFY.

TRANSFERS! Thank goodness haha JK It really wasn't that bad! But I'm glad to say the least. I learned alot from sister  Alvrez like how to love and how to be a better companion and leader. I have ANOTHER white compie! Why does God give me all the gringas? I really don't know why but I bet there is some reason. So we will see. Spanish is going to be sooooo hard because she is newish. But we already get along really well. I just hate how everyone looks at us ont the street. Like look 2 rich white girls that don't  know anything. It's great.

We have had some experiences this last week at thave made me reaaaaaallllly recognize the holy ghost guiding us. We have a new invest that just jumped to the creepy level. But I will also say I've never met anyone smarter than him. Its such a different teaching experience teaching him. His name is Roque and he could either be the next prophet or the next tyrant. We will see but we are going to give him over to the elders this week. Can't be too careful with these ones.
I AM TBE OPPOSITE OF TRUNKIE RIGHT NOW. I WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS TIME..TO THE MAX!

We had a baptism of this cute little girl. All her fam are members. She is the best!

 I need new shoes. Haha

Adam I found the same car in Peru

Week 59

This is Zonia - twin of Karen Quist

Today is the last pday before changes so we are all going to eat as a zone and I am going to print out a ton of pics. And the power keeps going out here.... peru:/ ahah jk i love it.

Want stories -ok I'll give you some.

I almost died this week when we were eating fish in the house of a member and I got one of the bones stuck in my throat. I just looked at my comp, like what do I do? Then I asked them all what to do and they all laughed and then realized I was really dying, so they told me to eat some potato and it saved me. Also I found a live larve in my fish. Best. Dinner. Ever.

I know Spanish, but sometimes it's still hard to understand everything. For example we were passing by the house of our 26 year old investigator and his mom was up on their roof and I was like "hey we are gouing to take your son to church tomorrow" and she says somthing I don't understand and I just give her a thumbs up and say "yeah! see you later." Welp my comp understood and apparently she was like "only if you take him hand in hand to the alter first.".......awkaward. They really make fun of me alot i think, but I just don't catch on.

I made a bet with Sister Moir when we got in a taxi -that in the 5 min taxi drive if the driver accepts a baptism date I will give her 5 soles. Welp he accepted....enserio! haha I think it's because she is white and blonde. Then yesterday I did the same with Sister Jamsenson thinking no way it's gunna happen twice..........uh oh. 10 soles later ...I'm poor. hahah Anyway I think it's just a really good motivation and now we have two more people in the world with a baptism date! Go me. It's actually not that hard. This is how you gotta do it. ¨Have you ever heard that nothing impure can enter into the kingdom of god?" "yes"...."well how can we be clean?.....baptism".... bam! That's all you gotta do!

But seriously this week has been the worst and the best. Worst because there was some drama with my comp and another sister in the zone and I had to fix it all. But it was also great because we resuced one person and had 5 investigators in church and we have 5 progressing with a baptism date! whatttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????? We put 3 new dates yesterday! We also had 13 lessons with memebers this week!  It was a really high week. We have 2 investigators that are going to get married and then baptized this next month. They are in the pic. She is the tall black one!

We had a menos activo member that was worried because she had a wedding with her family this week and they always try to make her drink and she syas she isn't strong enough. But miracle haha she got really really sick and couldn't drink anyway! She is (and I am too) way convinced it was a blessing from God and she used it as a real growing experience. >God works in mysterious ways!

Have you guys ever eaten sugar cane? try it its the best.

Abby I looooove her. I don't know but it just seems like that was me when I was little

I love you guys and we will see how cambios go this week!!!!!!!!!

Week 58

Yay I'm so excited that you can come pick me up! It's going to come too soon! Abby is soooooooo cute!

It's hard to have a focused and successful week when the companionship isn't too united. I tried to have a talk about some problems this week but every time I do she just shuts off. Its making me look forward to changes. We will see. But we actually had a more successful week this week. We had 9 nuevos and we had another accept a baptism date! Also this family we are trying to marry came to chruch and they are so set on baptism! It's all
about the families here!

Guess what I get to do this week. Be in a bus for 40 hours! I have to go to
Lima 2 this week so I will travel 4 times in a 10 hour bus trip. Why is more than half my mission traveling? hahah It's ok I can catch up on my sleep and try not to barf. Good news I get to go with Sister Jamenson and talk about American things the whole time.

Our ward mission Leader burned us this week. I was kinda not ok with itbecause
He doesn't do anything for us! jaja It means we just have to find a way to just love him and train him so he knows his duty and knows what the work is all about. But he also bought an iphone and rubbed it in my face haha. #imisstech

Good week. Good people here. The leaders are great (sometimes) and I feel
so blessed to be serving. And I'm so happy to hear about all of you serving
missions too.

Here are some sweet pics

Are the dead or drunk? #loveperu

Week 57

The wedding might have made me want to be home. But just for one second don't  worry. I really love all of you guys so much. I have the best family in the whole world. I wonder who is going to be the next wedding?

This week continues to be hard. I really feel ok in that I'm working as hard as I can and  doing all I can do so I'm not discouraged. Just realizing that there is somthing God wants me to  learn here. I think it has to do with diligence and patience and humility. The scriptures really help with my search for the reasons why these baptisms are not happening and what I need to change. I really treasure the time we have everyday to study and search the scriptures. Have you guys read the book Jesus the Christ? Well ya gotta go read it. It will change you're life. Everything we do is for the investigators. We study not for ourselves but to teach them the lessons so they can be baptized or rescued.

I was in sacrament meeting last week and looking around and seeing how we had NO ONE of our investigators in the church that day. But I felt like God gave me a moment of his perspective. And instead of getting sad and stressed I felt peace. I am here for maaaaaany reasons and God is using me how he wants. I felt he was happy with what I've been doing here,

I got to go to the Sisters meeting and it was a amazing and good news -I read scritptures and participated without dying! But the best was when I got to talk to Hermana Del Rosario and she had great news from the elders that took over our área. Apparently they have had over 10 baptisms from all the people we had found and taught! We left that area a little sad because we didn't have any baptisms there. But now I have a testimony of planting sedes. God knows what he is doing and we did make a difference there even if we didn't get to see the fruits. It made me so happy! Sooooooooo  full of heavenly joy!

Lots more is happening but nobody got time to tell it all. I love you all so much and I really am so happy. No pics this week because the stupid ghetto Peruvian internet stinks haha iloveperu

Week 56

Can everyone stop counting down for me hahah! Freaks me out! Wow Alex you better live it up! It goes by too fast. The times when I went to parties at Haleys house ect...was so great #noworries. Sooooo I am not too heart broken over OZ man so don't worry. I like Abby better already and I haven't ever met her.

Hermana Jamenson is from my MTC group and I looove everyone from my first mtc district so we are having a ball here! THERE IS A SISTERS CONFERENCE THIS WED. SO WE GET TO SEE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone is so excited! Just not looking forward to the 12 hours curvey bus trip uhhhh.

So my compie is slowley opening her crazy bag and dumping it on my one problem at a time. Def the hardest comp I've had in the mission. But I'm working with pres to help her.

So this last weekend or mainly just saturday has been mission and life changing! First training with President Douglas#learningsomuch! #tithing #dayofrest. The less active rate in Latin America is that 20% are active...ouch. We have alot of work to do. I also did a practice and participated alot without feeling like dying, so that was a big blessing from God. Then we had interviews with the President and we mainly just talked about my investigators and my companion and my area. It's interesting to see how every time we have an interview I can really see how much I have grown because now I am less focused on me and my problems but more about my area. It's sad because now I feel like I've been becoming the best missionary that I have been in my mission and the time feels like its running out!!!!! THEN later that night pres calls and he is like hey I'm gonna come work with you guys tonight! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH can you say pressure! We went out and contacted people and  I learned so mcuh. He.is.amazing.! And then we taught some lessons and I was so nervous but later he said that out of all the missionaries he goes out with this was one of the most memorable lessons he has been in. He said he felt the sprit really strongly and that we were great missionaries.! eeeeeeeeeeeek! After he left i just wanted to sleep I was so done hahah.

Yesterday I didn't bible bash with somone but he definitely attacked us and I just testified and taught and listened and tried my best to keep the patience. I think I did alright till the last part of the 2 hours....I kinda burned him a little and I hope maybe his son can pray and find out what is right!

This week was still hard. No one has accepted a baptism date! whyyyy?????????? It's ok we are workin hard and I feel good!

We had pancakes for the sacrement!

I love you guys and I love all the pics and all the videos!

Oh and my new Latin aunt down here looks kinda like Karen and the way she talks and expresses herself is like her. Cool. Kare Bear you're so cool!

Love you all
Hermana Quist

Week 55

Awwwwwwwww Abby is soo cute! I miss the Bearry swimming times so much! The weather here is pretty good right now. Not too hot, not too cold. We are about to go to this cool Ayacuchano monument, so I don't have alot of time to write but I will send the pics of it next monday.  Noah is going to Taiwan! Whaaaaa! That's so cool! That means all the Quist boys will be speaking different  languages. And congrats to Jayne! I can't believe everyone is leaving! The world is changin!

I found the Latina version of Karen Quist. She is called Zonia! My new latina aunt!

This week God has been trying us. I am not disanimated because we did all our part. The thing is I don't know what we are doing wrong. We are asking references and we are inviting everyone to be baptized and we are contacting alllll the families in the world. But nothing... God wants us to learn somthing and we really are going to humble oursleves before Him and do His will and accept His will in everything. This next week we are going to reap the fruits of our work- I know it! We found 11 new invests this week but that's the easy part! The thing is we don't want normal invests we are looking for familias!!!!!!!! The mission has a big focus on that right now! FAMILIES!

My favorite thing we hear at people's door is  ¨my moms says shes not home¨........ the best.

I threw up alllll morning thursday that was a good welcome to Ayacucho.

Hermana Jameson and I are the new Sister leaders here and we came to change somethings haha. I hope the zone doesn't hate us. Just that we had a little capacitacion on how to make goals.  I have really learned alot here. Especially being Sister Leader.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you so much dad and I hope that you have a great day! I love you and am so thankful  that you send me the best videos every week. Thanks- I miss you tons. ( I don't really know when Fathers day is- I think it is next Sunday, so I am writing it now- but if it's not.. this is embarassing)

My area is pure HILLS! Straight up! And my comp literally runs up em. I am not really ACCUSTOMED TO THE ALTITUDE yet, so it's hard to breath sometimes and I feel weak. I will get better.

Ok there is no more time and so much to tell. I will see you all next week! I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 54

It is impossible to write everyone so I am sorry if I can't! Why do so many people love me? joke....CRAZINESS THIS WEEK! Transfers! soooooooo dun dun du dun I'm in............AYACUCHO!  I am so happy because I wanted to come here! Go look it up it's such a different part of Peru then the parts I have been in. It's in the mountains and it kinda reminds me of Park City or Tahoe...just alot poorer and dirtier but soooooooooooooooo prettty!

So I left Nasca and I had to travel so far that I couldn't say goodbye to anyone!;( So bummed.  I just wrote 1000 letters on the 24 hour bus trip....oh did you not hear me right- yes I said 24---hours... in a bus....everyone was just dying and throwing up the whole time! I didn't, but the bad news is I have to travel to LIMA still twice every change, so I will want to kill myself. BUT whatever...so I am still a sister leader! YAy...I guess haha. Brayn and some member came to our house in the morning to say goodbye... sad sad sad because I have been in NASCA for almost 6 months and it's just mine...my home. But asi es la mision!

My compie se llama Hermana Alvarez She is from Mexico and she is a fireball! I knew her in Chorillos and D rose and I called her little Mexico, so now I can't believe Little Mexico is my compie! She loves me so that's cool and I think this will be a great change!

Soooooo I am going to write some other peeps I love you allllllllllllllllllllllll!

Happy Day
Agusto my favorite abuelo in Peru! I seriously love this guy
