Week 19

Yeah we are really working hard and our numbers are picking up! We have 5 baptisms scheduled for this moths. I hope they all work out. 2 of our investigators have cancer. Two have families that are drunk all the time and interrupt  our lessons with drunk stammering and yelling. And one golden investigator! We also have 3 others that are so perfect but aren't married and just living together (like everyone here) so they can't get baptized :(

But one thing about Peru and the people here. They don't see a real need for refrigerating  things ect... Hermana Odar will pour a bowl of cereal with yogurt...leave it out for all day and night then go to eat it and I'm like NO! Hermana that's been out all night. Yeah so? uhhhhhh. Also meat here....no need to store in cold areas. Its great.

The other day we are in a house for dinner and the member start preparing her fish in front of us. It's like yeah yeah nasty looking and smelling fish then, yep yep she just dipped her hands in nasty used water bucket that her dog is drinking out of then touched our fish agian. Oh then just cut up our salad with a knife she found of the floor.. MMMMMM Im going to die!

Oh and I literally watched a dog get ripped apart the other day. A pack of dogs just picked on a little dog and I'm pretty sure killed it. We were kinda scared out of our minds. I don't think you guys comprehend how many dogs are here.

I'll be walking in the street and I just hear some guy call out ¨Barbie¨. One time my comp said back Yeah but you're NO ken! ( like the barbie Ken) She thought she was so hilarious. He didn't.

We are really animated for this next month and I am so ready. BUT our branch is so sad right now. It's almost funny how ridiculous our ward council was. Just a bunch of old men yelling at each other. I am actually pretty frustrated with them. I want to be a missionary in a ward like ours in Cali!!!!!!!!!! Where the memebers actually help! And the pres or bishop knows what he is doing.

Your Peruvian food looks different...delicious but different. haha Thanks for trying

Week 18

Hey Hey Hey!

Yeah don't be worried that I didn't email on monday we had transfers and Pday is always switched for Wed. So keep that in mind next month. The next transfers are Nov, 2nd.

So yeah I didn't get transfered. Just Hermana Bustamante left. So just Hermana Odar and I here in Canete still and I am currently loving it!!!! Bustamante was great but wow I think we are going to reallly progress and have a differnt feel to this work and our compamiomship! It's a chance for me to grow and talk more in the lessons. And yeah my spanish is pretty much getting there. Of course it is not great but its better! Standable!

So I cannot believe it but I am already at my 4 month mark! AHHHHHHHHHH! Wow the time has just gone by so fast! Can you guys belive it! Craziness!

We have a new investigator named Elmer and I always just think of Grandpa and I love it. Also one member in our ward looks like and reminds be of Grams so much!

I basically am so awkward still. Just depends on the day really. Especially with the Elders. But we all have alot of fun together and I just keep thinking how it would have been so fun to serve with some of my uncles or amigos when they served!

I invited 2 new investigators to be baptized and they said yes! We have it planned for the 19th of OCt. So yeaaaaaaaahhhh! Also 2 more for other dates! I love those lessons that we just feel the spirit, the people are really into the lesson and interested, and they can actually understand me. You would think we would get tired of teaching the same thing over and over but really we don't! I love teaching the Restoration and Plan of Salvation the most!

One really awkard thing that happend this week-after teaching a lesson I say ¨ Hermana Grace will you follow the example of jesus Christ by being baptized?....She says. "Yeah but well I'm a member and my name is Gladice!!!!

hahahahahah sooooooo awkard my bad! Maybe you had to be there but let me tell you we have had some good laughs over that one!

I love you guys and miss all of you!

Tell Adam to write me or i'll kill him!

Chau Hermana Quist!

Week 17

Hola!!!

I will not have my sister with the name Sophie! But i like Lenaia like Lenaia Quist our cousin?

Ahh! So excited for Adam! Sorry all your kids are growing up and your sad, but hey that's why it's awesome you get to start all over again!! ahahjajaja.

You saw Jason and Taylor. I want to see Taylor and Jason! And their Apartment!!!!!!! Adam is going to have such a great time! Probably get all the girls too. What a stud. Tell Cameron to go to BYUI too so he is not so lonley.

So last week I taught my companera the Slug Bug game...Not a good idea.jaja My arms are pretty sore today.

Also for ALLLLLL of you that I'm sure really want to know, my mouth is still numb in one side from when I got my wisdom teeth out in November, so that's great.

We took a trip to Lima and I don't know what really was the problem but our bus driver freaked out and went off reading in some scary dirt road then we were shuttled onto a different bus then another. And finally after driving for another 15 mins met up with the first bus again.....don't really know what the deal was, but we are pretty sure we were avoiding the police. But my Zone leaders were having a heart attack over the whole ordeal. It was...interesting.

HW!!!!!!!!! Food homework! Hey so here are two things you guys  should make for FHE one night, look the recipes up online. Beso de Moza ( i feel like nicole would rock at this) And ensalada Rusa! MMMMMMMMM Que rico!!!!!!! Or the 3 leches cake!  Send pics of it with you guys if you make it!

My comps and I are way good. This week has been pretty good ( in respect to getting along) We have a lot of fun and laugh all the time. The not so fun part about the week is how we have had our agenda full evryday with great appointments, but nooooo. No one is ever at their house! We´ve walked all day long, every day this week.  And we are sooo tired and what do have to show for it....Nada! But hey next week will be better! Its all about keeping a good attitude! Can't let anything I feel inside affect my work and the way people see us. We are representatives of Christ!!!!!!

Every single day when I study the Book of Mormon, I learn soooo much. Did you guys know the Book of Mormon is basically purely about missionary work haha? I didnt! But enserio it is! Personal Study is my favorite time of the day!

I love you all and misss you!!!!!!!!! Work with your wards and with the missioanries because they need help from the members!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is your work not just ours!

Chouuuuuuuu , love Hermana Quist

Week 16

I don't know if you love my homework assignments, but I hope you do them because they are awesome. For the next FHE please go watch the talk from Elder Holland ¨The first and greatest commandment¨ or ¨Do you love me¨? I know you've all seen it but please watch it again.

Mom- Yeah before you send a package anytime tell me before so I can email you what I want in it. Thanks! No mail strike that I know of ,so that's good but yeah its slow- thats why email is awesome.

Don't worry about the mold we told the Pres. and we have permission to start looking for a new apartment.  My president is absolutely the best man alive. I am so lucky. Everytime I get to see him and listen to him, my mind is expanded and he just knows so much! When Elder Cook came he said that sometimes they are prompted to send missionaries to mission presidents...idk if that is the case for me, but maybe.

I love the people here and in our branch. My favorite is Hermana Katy, she is friends with me on FB if you wanna check her out, but we teach with her almost everyday. Our elders here in the zone are great and sometimes we are mean to them. For example one night they called and we pretended to be crying. Elder Thompson was so scared -ahaha we traumatized them. We think we are hilarious. They treat Hermanas so good here.

So this week we had another Multi Zone conference and the theme of our mission right now is Repentance. It's interesting because we all know what repentance is right? Claro que si. But before this I just had no idea how important it really is. The main thing we teach to our investigators is repentance. Because we are not here to baptize people! We are here to make converts. Real growth. Not people  that are going to go inactive in a couple months (which is how it goes down here).

I got to teach (meaning I was the head, like the person that starts off and talks the most) 2 lessons on repentace yesterday and it went super well. My spanish is maybe actually getting there. The worst is my pronunciation. I remember in my setting apart Pres. Brower blessed me that the people here will be able to understand me....but where is that now! Just need more practice and faith.

My comps and I had a huge fight the other day. Like for the fight time I was actually  really angry and ready to give  hermana Odar a piece of my mind. So after the fight she said how she wanted to ask for a transfer and leave. We were so taken back....like whattttt!  So then it switched to expressing how much we needed her and love her. We all creid and made up. Learning alot here.

Hermana Quist! Love you all!

Week 15

Hola!!!!!!! Today is my 2 month mark here in Canete! Seems like more haha! Lovin it!

Yeah I heard about Clark being a facebook missionary too, but no not down here yet and probably not for a long long time. We like to do things the old fashion way, face to face, cada a cada.!!!!!! haha.

We are hitting a bit of a dry streak with our investigators. But this last week we have really started to work with the members and have received alot of references for the next week. I read a scripture in D&C 29 verse 4 about how we are here to teach and find the elect of God. And yeah there is going to be rejection but its ok because we are only here to find those who want to hear our message. Its helps us feel better when people don't  want to hear our message.

People here are crazy with dirrections. It's like, ¨Nah I dont know my exact direction, but if you go down this street, pass two stores, and see a dog thats my house...¨uhhhhh ok. There are so many dogs here its unreal. The ones that live by us are our friends now!

I dont know if I told you guys this but we have mold. Like alot of it... in my clothes! We are trying to find a new apt.

My comps are testing my patience these days and I think next month when the transfers happen I will be good and ready. But also sad because I love them!

I can't wait to come home and see all these new babies! And I am very happy for Ian and Thyda!

Lesson of the week (and one I have yet to apply totally -sooo actually the Goal from now on) - A DILIGENT MISSIONARY IS A HAPPY MISSIONARY.

I miss you all and love you all! Thank you for everything! Now go get to work with your missionaries!
